NutshellMail in a Nutshell

It seems like these days it is increasingly harder to stay on top of all the social media outlets. If you’re juggling multiple accounts and trying to stay connected, Constant Contact’s Nutshell e-mail service may be for you. In Constant Contact’s press release, the mail service is described as a “service that makes it easy to monitor, manage and interact with friends, fans and customers through social media.”

For free, you can sign up for NutshellMail and link your social networks, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Myspace, and receive an e-mail update of all your activity in one simple snapshot.

From there, you can scroll down and look each account. Not only do you have the ability to see your social networks in one place, you also have the ability to comment, like and share posts. Say you like your friend’s Facebook status about their new blog post (shameless plug, yes, I know). With one click you’ll be taken to your Nutshell account and be able to comment then and there.

It’s also an easy way to keep track of critical conversations about a company and competition, and will keep you informed about what customers are talking about — all from one place. Even better, it’s all up to the user as to how much they want out of the service. You can receive e-mail updates once a day, three times a day or even instantly with a simple click.

Founded in 2008 in Houston, NutshellMail was acquired by Constant Contact in May of this year. Co-founder of NutshellMail, Mark Schmulen, describes the e-mail application as “a DVR for your social networking activity.” Have you been using the e-mail service? Interested in trying it?

I like NutshellMail, but it’s severely limited by only allowing 100 updates. Show me any heavy social media user who has less than 100 updates an hour? I do know several people that find it useful for helping to manage their Facebook fan pages.

Hey Sue! Thanks for your comment. Great feedback. Perhaps Nutshellmail will make some revisions to accommodate heavy users. I have found that using Twitter lists helps to streamline the flow of information. Let us know if you have any other tips.
